You may be thinking that we are not very active, seeing as our last post' was 3 months ago! Well unfortunately during our annual winter in Florida Robert contacted 'C diff'' infection. He was literally at death's door on 30th January when I took him to the Sarasota Memorial Hospital ER! He had started to feel ill at least 2 weeks earlier and went downhill fast. We had three consultations with Doctors over this time but sadly they were more interested in directing us to the most expensive possible solution rather than to the one that would improve Robert's health..... the total cost of these first few weeks was in the region of $6,000! Amazing isn't it that Robert only went further down hill! He was admitted to hospital and was there for 8 days, and me too as his 'carer'. In total the illness cost about $40,000 + thankfully we have a wonderful Insurance company who paid for everything. Currently we are back in France and Robert is still recovering. Having lost more than 30 pounds (14 kilos +) in body weight, not carrying any extra weight, this loss really was drastic, and so he is trying hard now to rebuild himself and his strength.
